Queen's Open 2004 Chess Tournament

Venue:  Mary Queen of Peace School,  Torbay Road, St. John's

Date:  September 19th (Sunday)      Sections:  7 sections

Format:  up to 30 minutes per player per game  (S/30),    5 rounds Swiss

This scholastic event will be rated by the Chess 'n Math Association (CMA).     

Registration time:  @9:15 am and closes @ 9:45 am

Separate sections for Grade 1 to Grade 6

One combined section for Grade 7 and up

Entry fees:   Registration at door: $10.00

è Registration at door: $10.00 @ 9:15 am   Round 1 should start @ 10:00 am.  Later comers will be given 1/2 point bye for first round.  No late comers allowed after 2^nd round has begun.  Afternoon rounds start @1:30 pm.  Last round finishes at 3:30pm.  Awards ceremony to conclude no later than 3:45 pm.

èPrizes:  Medals for Top 3 players for each grade and Junior High Section.  No playoffs for this event.   If there are ties, break point systems will be used.  Non-medal winners will receive special recognition buttons.

A small canteen service with snacks and pops will be available.  Lunches are readily available at close-by restaurants.
