Pre-Registration

Unrated players are asked to pre-register by sending their Name, Address,  Grade, School and Date of Birth by email.  The addresses are given above.  All players will pay on site at time of registration.  Cheques should be made out to the Newfoundland and Labrador School Chess Association (NLSCA).

Sections

Two sections:

·    Junior High  Section: Grades 7 to 9

·    High School Section: Grades 10 to 12

Format

Five(5) rounds, Swiss format.

Schedule

• First round starts at 10:00 AM. 

• Last round should finish by 4:00 PM.

• (Lunch break at 12:15 – 12:45)

Time Controls

30 minutes per player per game

 Ties for medals will be decided by 5 minute speed chess.

Prizes

Individual event: Champions for each section will receive a perpetual trophy to be kept by school for one year.  Gold, silver and bronze medals for top 3 players in each section.
