Yes, but please notify the Tournament Director about the absence when the player leaves, and when the player returns.
In NLSCA tournaments, players are allowed to request one half-point bye during the tournament. This means that, if a
player leaves and then returns later, and the player notifies Tournament Director, the player will be awarded a half point
for one missed game, (the equivalent of a draw). In addition, the player will not be paired with an opponent for that round.
Additional missed games will be treated as zero point byes, i.e. no points awarded. It is still better than just not
showing up for the round, however. Byes do not affect a player's rating, whereas if a player just does not show up for
a game, the result will be recorded as a loss, and that can adversely affect the player's rating.
Please note that the half-point bye can be requested for any round, except the final round. If the player cannot play
in the last round and notifies the Tournament Director before the round starts, the player will receive a zero point bye.
